Students will enjoy this highly engaging activity that allows them to build confidence and comfort in making inferences! They will become detectives seeking to solve twelve cases where they have to gather the clues, use their schema (background knowledge), and make an inference to determine which move character is talking and to whom. This activity includes three levels of differentiation - underlined key text in the mysteries for those students who need some additional assistance, QR codes with links to audio recordings for your growing readers, and an extension activity that has students creating their own original mysteries. You are also able to differentiate the number of mysteries you want different students to solve in order to best meet their individual academic needs. This can be completed in partners or individually. Sherlock Holmes only wishes he had this assignment in class!
