Inferring can be a difficult skill for students to master. I created task cards that students can make connections to in their own life to help make their learning this skill a little easier.
In my classroom, I use the "workshop" approach when teaching reading. Throughout the week...my mini-lessons revolve around the same concept. As a teacher, I want to see that my students are understanding that concept and show evidence of this by responding in their "reading response" journals.
Often, I have the students use the task cards for their journal responses, Each student gets a sheet of 4 task cards...they cut them out...glue them in the journals...and respond appropriately.
This kit includes:
* 16 task cards
* 16 inferring texts (same as task cards) with a student checklist...and an area for illustrations.
I was able to get a great deal of information about my students and their understanding of inferring by using these task cards.
I hope that this packet becomes a useful tool in your Reader's Workshop.
Thanks and God Bless,
