Fluency assessments can be quite tricky. It's important not only to calculate dysfluencies in speech samples, but also to examine how the dysfluencies are impacting a child's education or self-esteem. This informal rating scale has a form for parents, teachers, and students to examine just that.
This scale was developed to assist SLPs when evaluating students for a fluency disorder. This rating scale is NOT NORMED and has NO COMPARATIVE DATA. It is designed to be an informal assessment and act as a questionnaire to see the impact of a student’s dysfluencies at home and in the classroom. The scale consists of 5 sub-categories: dysfluencies, avoidance, social interactions, and negative feelings. Items were divided into these subcategories to help the clinician interpret the scale more easily.
