I created this product because I felt like my students needed more guidance when writing about their reading in my Daily 5 Centers. After students read to self or read to someone, students were to follow up with a journal activity as evidence of their reading. However, my students were producing very simple sentences with very little thought put into the piece. I felt my kids needed more guidance in what to write while I was in my guided reading groups. That’s when I decided to create this product. I make multiple copies of 2 different journaling pages and place in my classroom library. When students are finished Reading to Self or Reading to Someone, they select one of the journaling pages to complete. The pages guide the students and require students to think beyond just “My favorite part is…” I hope you find these useful in your class!
