Take the mystery out of informational writing! Many students struggle to make informational writing interesting, but there is nothing wrong with good style! Students will spend time brainstorming and organizing before writing in a balanced three-paragraph format (first, second, third).
This informational organizer is adaptable and appropriate for 5th-8th graders. Students brainstorm for a three or five-paragraph essay using the 4-Square organizer. The margins are free for adding adjectives, brainstorming better vocabulary, jotting down a simile, or including transition words and adverbs.
A simplified grade form is well suited to emerging writers, guiding them through the six traits of good writing as they brainstorm and write while ensuring a grade they can be proud of.
