This is a biographical/informational passage and assessment on Albert Einstein, undoubtedly the most famous modern scientist of them all. It focuses on the main events of his life in chronological order as well as his theory of relativity and is ideal for a single-period lesson introducing this great scientist. It was written specifically for Grade 4-7 students and can be used in a number of ways by teachers (close reading, direct instruction in class, independent practice, homework, test prep, assessment, sub work, centers, etc). Informational passages and assessments that are close-reading ready as well as lengthy and engaging are an important aspect of many elementary and middle school ELA programs. This product is sold as an example of what I offer to meet this resource need and is not part of any bundled collection offered in my store.
This resource includes:
1) An engaging 800-word biographical passage called “Albert Einstein’s Genius.” The passage is at a fifth/sixth grade reading level and tells the life story of the greatest modern scientist in the world.
2) A set of 27 questions, including vocabulary and comprehension work requiring close reading and re-reading of the text. There is also an extension activity at the end to continue the study of famous scientists.
3) Answers to every question.
