Writing a non-fiction essay, or informational text essay as its called now is an important part of any secondary school curriculum. It has been incorporated into the Secondary School (Grades 6-12) Common Core State Standards as one of 3 writing types, including Narrative Writing and Argumentative Essay writing. An Informational Text essay is non-fiction or expository and is used to inform or explain something to the reader.
