During my Informational Text Unit, students picked their topic of choice to research ranging from a variety of animals, famous presidents, celebrities, and countries. The idea for this project came from having stacks of extra manila folders in storage that were not being used. We created a mini tri-fold for each student by stapling two manila folders together. In addition to having the tri-fold, students created foldables of their choice based on some examples I learned from professional development workshops and pinterest. Colored paper was provided and as soon as they found relevant information on their topic, they transferred it onto their self-created foldables of choice which later were placed on their tri-folds.
Presentation Day allows students to raise their tri-folds and present their information science fair style. The rubric provided is to be stapled on the back of each of the tri-folds to be used for students to check off all necessary elements and for teacher to add points and final grade.
***Elements of Informational Text and Book Citation lessons were provided before this project was presented.***
