A template to help students "sort" the relevant from irrelevant information found in an informational text, which I refer to as "ITS". I recommend teachers use these templates with whole class discussions when reading an exemplary text. Once students understand the "hows" then handout these templates for individual, pair or group work.
Further these templates can be made into posters because they target the thinking behind informational texts. Another way to utilize this product is to laminate and reuse for groups of students.
Templates are designed for interactive work with introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions. This will work for any nonfiction subject matter students read.
Last: this product will work well with A Writers Workshop in 40 minutes for Middle School Students
