Texts for TASKS (Teachers Assessing Student Knowledge in Science)
**NOTE: If you already own Science Tasks with Otis & Flask you have these documents as part of that download. You do NOT need to purchase this item.***
Several people have asked if we could post the informational text passages that are part of our Science Tasks with Otis & Flask science centers series for grades 3-6.
Included in this download, you will find the informational text passages for the science content noted below. Each text passage has a vocabulary graphic organizer as well as an open-ended question that models a high-stakes assessment item. An answer key has also been included.
Our plan is to add to the “tasks” part of this download with writing prompts and other ways to use the informational text passage. As we add to this resource, you will get the updated version for FREE! (Hurry! As we add to the resource the price might go up--but you will continue to get the updates at no additional cost!)
In the meantime, you can use these informational text passages as ways to engage your students in earth, physical, and life science topics. Additionally, they will use vocabulary strategies and open ended assessment items to explain their understanding.
Seven text passages are included for:
-Processes that Shape Earth’s Surface
-Plants & Animals-Structure & Function
-Physical & Chemical Change
**Download the preview to see the Fossils example. Each additional topic follows a similar format.
