Description

Looking for a fun way to teach your students how to research and write informational pieces? Look no further! This unit will help your students research, take notes, organize information, and plan their writing. This unit contains the materials necessary to write an informational book, paragraph, or informational poster about an Arctic or Antarctic Animal. The pages in this unit are for whales, polar bears, and penguins, with several blank pages included if your students (or you!) want to research something else.

Newly added 7-19-17: Informational books containing information about whales, polar bears, and penguins. These books can be printed out and bound, or projected from the computer so that you can read them together as a class.

This unit has been used (successfully!) in my own Kindergarten and first grade classrooms, and my students were so excited and engaged. They loved creating their own colorful, fact filled posters and informational books. This unit is perfect for beginning a unit on informational writing or a final activity to complete your unit. This could be used with first, second or third graders with varying degrees of independence, or with Kindergartners with a bit more guidance.
