1. "I can..." statement checklist, adapted from the Common Core Standards for 6th grade writing, which allows students to track their progress. (half shown in preview)
2. A peer review sheet (half shown in preview)- I have found that it's really hard to get students to peer review effectively, so I created my own peer review sheet for informational writing. Students circle "definitely", "sometimes", or "needs improvement", then write a comment. In my class, I make comments mandatory (meaning even if they circle definitely!). I then grade each comment on a scale of 1-4; four being a very specific and helpful comment. When students know they are being graded, they really focus on making strong comments.
3. A student friendly rubric
4. An informational writing outline - There is a space for organizing the introduction, three sub headings, a conclusion, and 4-5 vocabulary words.
Please let me know if there is anything that needs to be changed or if you have any questions. All reviews are appreciated!
