Adapted from a few 6 +1 traits rubrics, this rubric does not assess voice since expository writing isn't really supposed to have much of a voice. The comments in each box are detailed and meant to guide students towards revisions and recognize when they need help. This is not meant to be a summative assessment for grading but rather a tool to help the teacher give quick, specific feedback and to teach the students to self-regulate (Did I put three details? Can I tell what my paragraph is about from the first sentence?). It is also detailed enough for students to learn to grade each other. The only thing I know of that I forgot to add to the rubric is freedom from opinion, but to be fair, difference between fact and opinion is typically taught around third grade.
