Students, of all ages, hate to get up in front of their peers and talk (although they do that on a regular basis in the lunchroom). This activity has each student in front of the room delivering a 5-Paragraph speech on a topic that peaks their interest. Students are first instructed to choose a city that they would like to travel to. They are going to sell said city as though they were a Travel Agent. They begin researching this city and come up with 9 attractions that are worth seeing and separate those into three categories. These categories become the basis for their paragraphs. Accompanying this, the students create a 10-slide PowerPoint as their visual aid. They should be encouraged that, since this is a formal presentation, they should keep the PowerPoints clean. They are going to want to throw in several animations and transitions. Each slide should have just the name of the attraction and a picture to show what that attraction looks like.
