Are you and your students tired of writing paragraph after paragraph after paragraph? If so, then this resource is for you!
While preparing for the Lucy Calkins informational writing unit, I loved the concept, but wanted to give my students more structure to record their writing. This resource includes a multitude of informational writing formats, including top five & ten list, how-to, diagram, picture & caption, table, cause & effect, problem & solution, and question & answer. There is a graphic organizer (Brace Map) to help students organize their thoughts, as well as a table of contents, glossary, and about the author pages. Each format comes in either a general style or includes clip-art.
Although this resource was designed with the Lucy Calkins informational writing "Expert Book" project in mind, it could also be used for research projects, general informative writing projects, or during non-fiction text features instruction. However you use it, I am sure you and your students will see the fun and engaging possibilities!
