The Informative Writing Map will guide you and your students through the process of writing an informative essay. With this visual map, students can see the flow and relationship between each part of their essay. First, in the intro paragraph: the hook grabs the reader's attention and the thesis statement presents the topic. Then students organize three main facts to structure each of their body paragraphs. Specific details and examples fill each of the body paragraphs with evidence to further explain their thesis. The conclusion then echos your thesis while leaving your reader with a sense of direction or a posed question.
This map makes informative essay writing easy to teach because you can break down each section. I have my students memorize the map so they can draw it up anytime we begin writing informative essays!
**Simply download and print. A colored copy is provided to show how each paragraph is separated, as well as a black-and-white copy to print off for your students. Let me know if you need any modifications!
