These are my lesson plans for a writing unit on Informative Writing.
All lessons are written in a mini-lesson format and the plans follow components of the Danielson Framework.
The outline for the unit is as follows (although I spent multiple days on some):
1. gather ideas and decide on a topic
2. draft the introduction
3. gather facts about topic
4. gather facts about topic
5. begin drafting with linking words
6. continue drafting
7. continue drafting
8. draft the conclusion
10. edit for capitals and punctuation
11. continue editing for capitals and punctuation
12. edit for spelling
13. create an illustration or diagram
14. create an illustration or diagram
All lesson plans include the following components: unit, lesson topic, objective (written in the “Today I will __ so that I can __. I’ll know I’ve got it when __.” format), Common Core Learning Standards, materials, vocabulary, motivation/connection, learning plan, higher order thinking questions, assessment, differentiation, closure, and reinforce and extend learning.
I included some examples of pieces of my own story (on Frogs) in these plans, but these plans are editable so feel free to change anything you wish! I did also include some of the graphic organizers that I used for this lesson. They were just simple organizers to keep their facts organized under certain headings. One organizer includes places for two headings and the other includes places for three headings so that you can differentiate.
