This lesson is designed to get young art students thinking about design. It focuses on creating a module design based on their own initials. Students will research different kinds of font and typography and are able to experiment with the composition of their letters. Specific directions are given for the creation of their module, in order to create a successful motif. Students will review art concepts such as balance and contrast, as well as be able to hone their mechanical skills in drawing. Real life practices and careers can be introduced with specific examples of how module design is used in our everyday world. More stipulations on repetition, reproduction, and accuracy can be given for the older grades.
