This packet includes 13 sorting sheets. Each sheet is designed for sorting two letter sounds for letters A to Z by initial sound (although letter X includes two ending sounds). The file is in PowerPoint to allow you to edit images as needed to meet your students' needs.
Have students fold a sheet of construction paper in half. At the top of the first side, write the first letter to be sorted. At the top of the second side, write the second letter to be sorted.
Ask students to point to each picture card and repeat the word. (This prevents later confusion when students are ready to sort. Kids can't sort words they donﾒt know!) Then have students then cut out all sorting cards and sort them onto their appropriate sides.
Once students have been checked for accuracy, allow them to glue the pieces onto the correct side of the construction paper and color the pictures.
These cards can also be printed on card stock and laminated to create a fun file folder sorting game. Just label each side of a file folder with the given letters and include the cards to easily create an independent center activity.
