Inquiry-based learning experiences, such as project-based learning and guided or open-inquiry scientific investigations, start with observations. Observations lead to a question, which then drives the inquiry investigation. Kids make observations using their senses such as what they see and what they hear, which often end up being surface level. This free exercise guides students through a simple observation-making experience, encouraging them to make detailed observations that lead to questions that they can deeply explore.
