These graphic organizers were developed to assist students in using Big Ideas from the History curriculum in order to develop open-ended inquiry based questions for research. After teaching the necessary background information on a theme or topic connected to the curriculum (e.g. Confederation), students use the graphic organizers to guide them in:
- developing open-ended questions for research
- use primary and secondary courses to explore their question
- interpret and analyze information they have gathered by considering the concepts of historical thinking
- drawing conclusions and preparing to present their findings related to their question
These resources have been developed to meet the expectations of the new Ontario History Curriculum, however could be adapted for any curriculum connected to inquiry based learning.
