Students will conduct informal research to critically analyze the lives and philosophies of Dr. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. This is a great self directed activity that can be done individually, with a partner, or in small groups. Students will be asked to think critically and evaluate the philosophies of the two men. Ideally students should have access to the Internet to complete this activity as a webquest. If access is not available, teachers could find and print some biographical information and supply it as a handout (links to some sample sites are provided). This activity supports new Common Core skills.
