The truth is, students love inquiry labs! They love having the ability to decide the specifics of what they will test.
3 versions of the one page inquiry lab sheet are included. Some have more space for procedures while others have more room for data/results. So you can choose which version will work best for your purposes.
NGSS aligned ideas to get your creative juices are included.
4th grade ideas cover: 4-PS3-4, 4-PS3-3, 4-ESS2-1
5th grade ideas cover: 5-PS1-2, 5-PS1-4, 5-LS1-1

Two ways to use the Inquiry Lab Sheet:
**One way to do an Inquiry Lab, is to model a sample demonstration and ask students what questions they have. They may say: What if we added more/less _____. What if we also added _____. I model possible questions about the topic and actually write them in the question section and leave up under the projector for students to refer to. Students can only change ONE variable from the demonstration lab.
**Another option, is to present the question and have a class discussion. The class could all do the same lab you create together or each group could do a their own version.
It is great to see students investigating, engaged, and thinking like scientists!
