"Things that make you go hmm?" Song lyrics can be nonsensical, but they can also be powerful conduits to inspire social change...or at least social inquiry. Challenge the social awareness and critical consciousness of your students with this Music / Language Inquiry Unit.
This Inquiry Unit contains 6 lessons and graphic organizers that create an opportunity for students to explore the many ways in which contemporary song lyrics impact our society by asking listeners to think about a variety of social issues. The culminating assessment is a choice matrix that differentiates the modes by which the students can creatively and meaningfully express what they've learned.
