Inquiry projects are a wonderful way to get your students excited and engaged in the learning process. They align wonderfully with the Common Core Standards and allow students the opportunity to research topics that compliment curriculum you are currently studying. Use them during (or at the end of) an ELA unit, Science topic, or Social Studies chapter. In my class, the students get two weeks to research a topic related to what we have been covering, take notes, ask questions, and present the information to their peers. This is one of the FAVORITE student directed learning projects I do all year!
