Students are able to plan and record their research by using the KWHLAQ guiding questions. The cover page has a place for students to record their topic or central idea if you are part of an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.
(You will only need to print one cover page-either central idea or topic.)
The tabs at the top of the pages include:
K-What do I think I know about the subject?
W-What do I want and need to find out?
H-How will I go about finding answers to my questions?
L-What am I learning as I move along my inquiry journey?
A-What action will I take as a result of my inquiry?
Q-What new questions do I have as continue my inqiry?
Each page has a stamp at the bottom with a thought bubble/question to help guide students.
The end of the booklet has a two pages to record any "wonderings" and two pages to add other notes they may have while researching their subject as well as a page with the IB-PYP Key Concepts, Learner Profile, Attitudes, Action Cycle, and Transdisciplinary themes.
A page to list references is at the end of the booklet with a world map.
After printing the booklet, students will need to cut on dotted lines at the top of each page to create a tab. Staple together on the left and they are ready to go! Print on white paper or colored paper to add a little pizazz! :)
