This is a pack of activities geared towards kindergarten or first grade. This product includes 4 hands-on activities that will reinforce science and art concepts.
Activity One: Organism Flow Chart In this activity, students will cut out a sun, a plant, a water droplet and an insect and glue them to a flow chart.. Students will the use pictures to label their chart. This activity answers the essential question “How can you describe patterns of what insects need to survive?” and goes along with the science standard K-LS1-1
Activity Two: Expressive Lines Students will identify and draw expressive lines. This activity answers the question “How can you create 2D expressive lines?” and goes along with the art standard VAKPR.2c
Activity Three: Patterns Students will identify and draw patterns. This activity answers the question “How can you create patterns?” and goes along with the art standard VAKPR.1c
Activity Four: Build a Bug Students will use the knowledge gained from the other activities to create a patterned bug and label it’s parts. This activity utilizes fine motor skills with cutting, folding, and gluing. This activity will answer the essential questions, “How can you create 2D and 3D expressive lines? How can you create pattern? What are the physical features of an insect?” which will go along with the science standard SKL1b
