This insect emergent reader covers that crucial concept in beginning math: one-to-one correspondence! So, basically, this emergent reader hits two critical skills with one stone.

Emergent readers are necessary in that first year of reading instruction!
In our Counting Bug Emergent Reader, you will get a repetitive bug counting story that follows the pattern "I see (number) (insect name)" with a corresponding picture. We cover numbers 1-10.
We've also included cover pages for the students to write their names.
I made this book with struggling readers in mind and my younger son, age 4, reads all of these books with ease. So, the age range of emergent readers really does vary on student skill sets. These are perfect for differentiation!
Each page is slightly less than a half-sheet of paper, and there are
11 pages total for each book, including the cover page.
There's a black and white version for students to color, and there's also a color version for your guided reading groups.
We hope this emergent reader has your student excited about learning their basic number words and sight words!
Please note: This is NOT an editable document. It is a PDF. You cannot change the wording of the story or font.
