This is from my primary habitats science unit. In terms of background that precedes this lesson we would have already spent a lot of time learning about the different types of habitats, animals and adaptations to the environment. For this lesson we head outside onto the school grounds to find some of our own insects to observe and record. Afterwards we come back together as a class to discuss what we found, and explore what sorts of locations we found each of our insects and why we think they could be there.
This is an inquiry based science lesson.
