“Insect Investigators” is a fun sight word game with an insect theme to it that your children will love to play in partners or small groups! This set includes ALL 220 Dolch words (Pre-Primer, Primer, First, Second, Third, and Nouns), so it is great for all students and can be easily differentiated by grade levels or for reading levels of children in one classroom.
Children will mix up the cards face down and create a “draw” pile. Each child playing should also have a gameboard. Players will turn over a card and try to read the sight word. If they can read it, they need to find the insect name on their gameboard to match the insect picture on the sight word card. If they have that insect word available, they should put the word card there. If not, they can just keep it to the side or discard it. If the child cannot read their word, you can have them draw a new word or lose their turn. The object of the game is to read as many words correctly as possible while also collecting one each insect for investigation in the gameboard scene. Players should take turns until both players have filled their gameboard and can read all of the words they collected.
