I use this insect scavenger hunt at the end of the year to help keep things "scientific" without confining students indoors when they would rather be anywhere else!
Students are challenged to find 22 insects during this hunt. All of these creatures can definitely be found in Texas, but I'm sure they can be found elsewhere, too!
I show my students a slideshow of pictures of each of the insects before going outside. I also print and laminate the slideshow into a book to take outside while students are hunting so that they can check an insect's appearance before checking it off on their scavenger hunt sheet.
