Phonological awareness is the awareness of sounds in our language without the use of printed letters or words. Phonological awareness skills are practiced by noticing, comparing and manipulating (playing with) sounds such as identifying beginning sounds, blending and segmenting sounds in words, and producing rhyming words. In this packet, students will practice identifying the number of syllables in words. This activity is ideal for independent center work.
