In this insect theme activity, you will find 10 unique strip puzzles of various insects. Eight of the puzzles practice counting 1-10, one puzzle practices counting 1-20, and finally one more puzzle practices uppercase and lower case letters of the alphabet. The puzzles includes insects like: bees, ladybugs, ant, katydid, beetles, dragonfly, grasshopper, an ant, and more.
What makes it extra special?
- I use real photographs
- I use insects that are interesting and popular among the preschoolers
- I purposefully picked photos that encourage science discovery. For example there is a great photo of bees and an unassuming queen the preschooler can find; or a photo of a katydid which is a great example of insect camouflage; and a number of close up photos where you could point out some anatomy that all insects share.
- I tried to include a variety so they could be used during large group time or opening circle
How you can use this resource:
These puzzles work great during small/large group time; math literacy and science centers; or with early finishers.
