The extreme conditions faced by North Koreans in our modern world intrigues students. This video features North Korea in the early 2000's when Kim Jong Il was in power. An undercover reporter enters the country and films the real North Korea. It is a great companion video with current events to illustrate how quickly things are changing in the country. The documentary is produced by National Geographic and is about 50 minutes long, perfect to fit into one or two class periods.
The handout includes 12 video response questions that focus on the big ideas presented in the video to highlight the differences between the roles of citizens in our countries. The questions are written in chronological order with the movie so you can pause and discuss as needed.
