Are you looking for comprehension questions that will promote critical thinking about the book Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, by Dusti Bowling? These questions are intended to go beyond the surface. They will prompt your students to "dig deeper" and interact with the text in a meaningful way. Students will be asked to make connections, determine cause and effect relationships, compare and contrast, reflect, infer, make predictions, analyze characters, and consider alternative scenarios.
This resource includes:
1. Comprehension Deck- 60 questions in task card format that can be hole-punched and put on a ring for easy access during read aloud or small group discussions. The cards can be copied to paste in a standard-sized notebook, taped on chart paper, or used as discussion prompts.
2. Student Packet with cover- This packet contains the same 60 questions in packet form, with writing lines for written response.
3. Chapter Summaries- This book has been divided into ten sections, with summaries of each section for easy teacher reference when planning.
4. Answer Key- Most of the questions have many possible answers. The key provides examples and possible responses for every question.
