Get students up and collaborating with this 6-task insurance activity. For this activity students need to have a working knowledge of insurance terminology and types of insurance. Students will estimate life insurance needs, correctly identify key insurance terminology, calculate after-tax disability insurance benefits, sequence steps to take in a car accident, calculate health insurance plan costs, and answer multiple choice questions about insurance types.
This is a great way to engage your students and get them interested in the content. Students will work with a partner or small group and race to complete the tasks. By solving the cases they will prove themselves as the "Master of Insurance".
Concepts covered: premium, rider, policy, deductible, beneficiary, claim, co-payment, co-insurance, life insurance, health insurance, homeowner's insurance, renter's insurance, long-term disability insurance, long-term care insurance, and steps to take in an automobile accident.

-Insurance Escape Activity Cards PDF
-Insurance Escape Case Files (Student Worksheet to show their work) PDF

-Link to digital form used to "escape" by entering the locks
-Print 1 class set of the Insurance Escape Activity Cards and a set of the Insurance Escape Case Files for each group. Cut pages with the cards in half to spread out the clues. You may wish to print on colored paper and laminate for a long-lasting product.
-Tape or lay these around the room, placing the cases with the same locks together. For example, place all of the directional locks in the same area and all of the letter locks in the same area.
-For this activity students will need to use the Internet to access the online form. If using a phone, tablet, or other device students can scan the QR code to link to the form. If not, students can enter the web address into the browser.

-(Optional) Device with camera to read QR codes such as iPads, tablets, or cellphones
