Product Description
A placemat activity is a cooperative learning strategy that provides opportunities for each student in a group to record individual responses, then combine all their individual answers into one final answer.

In this placemat activity, students will work in groups of 4 to solve integer operations. After they each get their individual answers, they will combine all 4 answers to get one overall sum/difference to place in the inner rhombus. When the teacher checks the final answer, if the sum of individual answers isn’t correct, the students will work together to find which answer(s) is/are incorrect.

I would suggest printing the placemats on different colored paper so it’s easier to check the final answer. For example, green paper = -7, blue paper = 28, etc. You may also want to laminate the placemats and give students markers that will erase from the lamination. This way you can pass a completed placemat from one table group to another.
