Included in this set are 30 task cards on integers. There are 5 different types of cards (6 of each type). Cards 1-6 ask students to order the numbers from largest to smallest or smallest to largest. Cards 7-12 ask students to plot 3 points on a number line. Cards 13-18 have students evaluate an expression. Cards 19-24 have students compare integer values by placing an inequality sign, or an equals sign between two integers. Finally, cards 25-30 ask students to write an integer that represents a sentence
(for example “a 20lb loss” would be -20). A recording sheet and answer key are also included! To ensure this is item will work for you please view the free preview before purchasing. There are 2 versions of the cards: one has a black and white border (to save ink) the other set has a colored border.
There are multiple ways I use task cards in my classroom. Sometimes I have students pair up, sometimes I have students work alone. When students work in pairs, I give each student a task card. Students then work together to solve each of the problems. After a certain amount of time (2-3minutes) each group passes their cards to the next group. When I have students work on task cards by themselves, I pass out the task cards, then set a timer so that every 2minutes students pass their cards. Another way to use this set of task cards would be to set up 5 centers (small groups). Students can have a certain amount of time to visit each center and answer the questions on the cards for that particular center. The cards are pretty clear cut and using them in centers should be very simple. Would make a great sub lesson plan as there should be a minimum amount of teacher involvement needed!
