Description of PowerPoint...
As an anticipatory/introduction to the lesson, the presentation begins by telling the story of the RMS Titanic and it's later discovery by Dr. Robert Ballard in 1985. It's very engaging and you'll find that your students will be hooked into the lesson very quickly.
The presentation then leads into the lesson by having the students describe as an integer the depth at which the Titanic was found below the surface of the ocean. This gives students a connection to the real-world and will help them to better understand the math skill.
The presentation then teaches the student how to compare and order integers using a number line. Absolute values and opposites are also discussed.
It ends with closure questions and pictures of items found with the discovery of the Titanic.
