I teach in Alberta, Canada. This entire chapter deals with INTEGERS. This package is made to correlate with the Pearson textbook called Math Makes Sense 8 (Chapter 2) and teach outcome Number 7 from the Alberta Program of Studies. This package is easily adaptable to fit any textbook style and/or program of studies. All documents are in word so they can easily be changed according to your liking.
Outcome Number 7: Demonstrate an understanding of multiplication and division of integers, concretely, pictorially, and symbolically
What student will learn
-How to model multiplication and division of integers using number lines and number tiles
-The identity property and the zero property
-How to identify the dividend, divisor, and quotient
-Determining if a multiplication or division statement has a positive or negative solution
-Determining an answer involving integers using the long hand process, distributive property, and visual aids
-How to solve integer problems using the order of operations (BEDMAS)
-How to solve various word problems involving integers
