This PowerPoint game is a fun way for students to review their knowledge of integers and absolute value. As they play, students will practice the following skills:

1) Identifying, representing, ordering, and comparing integers

2) Identifying and describing the absolute value of integers and rational numbers

3) Simplifying expressions involving absolute value (knowledge of the order of operations is required on a few of these problems)

To play, start by splitting your class up into two teams. Then, run the PowerPoint and click on the “play” button to navigate to the home screen. Team 1 will start by selecting a number from the bottom of the screen. This will take them to a question. Everyone will work the problem on their student activity sheet, showing work when necessary. Once enough time has been given, Team 1 will give an answer and the class will check their answer by clicking on the “answer” button. If their answer is correct, return to the home screen and Team 1 chooses a Pi symbol to eliminate (a Pi symbol is eliminated by clicking on it). Doing this causes a point value to pop up on the screen. This value represents the number of points Team 1 earns for correctly answering their question. Team 2 then takes over and picks a question. If they answer their question correctly, they can eliminate a Pi Symbol to determine the number of points they earn before Team 1 gets another turn. Play continues in this back-and-forth manner until all questions in the game have been answered!

As play progresses, you will need to keep track of the total points each team is earning. Whichever team has the greatest total points at the end of play, wins!

*Note: If at any point a team incorrectly answers a question, the other team takes over and the answering team does not get the chance to eliminate a Pi symbol or earn any points.

The game contains 24 questions, step-by-step instructions, a student activity sheet, and an answer key (as part of the PowerPoint presentation)!

The zip file contains a PowerPoint file and two pdfs. Please make sure your device can open these file types before purchasing. Thank you!
