The first script on INTEGERS involves students in reading and reviewing information about whole numbers. Its context is the Integer family reunion - to which no fractions are invited! The script incorporates humor and contemporary language and references. It’s part of a collection in my book CURRICULUM-BASED READERS THEATRE SCRIPTS: MATH.
The second script in this set focuses on INTEGER OPERATIONS. It uses a Boot Camp context. Both scripts are written for solo speakers with many parts for ALL so that teachers can use it with a whole class. Reading and rehearsing a script reinforces information and facts about integers while also increasing reading fluency and engaging students in a dramatic approach to learning facts. Students enjoy creating and performing gestures and sound effects where indicated in the stage directions. And—because it is a script—they do not mind reading and re-reading the information. This Curriculum-Based Readers Theatre script is one of many I have created with students and teachers across the United States.
