### Description

Math and history can absolutely be taught together. Historians use math all the time! Students will review or preview Early Republic History and the American Civil War while they practice important math skills. Use in grades 3, 4, or 5. This math resource will also align with some Common Core Standards.

Your students will use history and math skills just like a real historian in this resource. Figuring out how long ago something took place along with chronology is very important to history. Historians need to think critically to problem solve along with being able to manipulate data in order to find the truth. This resource is a way to introduce real-world math problems to your students.

This resource was updated to work as an interactive resource for Google Classroom™ making it a great distance learning resource. If you are looking for the print-only version please click here.

Represent real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.
Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
