I use this resource after The Problem We All Live With podcast and transcript. This document is the same idea, but is at a higher reading level. It is especially helpful to use to teach or reinforce informational text cues like line numbers and footnotes.
Students relate to this text because they have prior knowledge of desegregation as a far off, past event, but by engaging with this podcast, they slowly realize that these issues are not over, even at Central High School where desegregation of public, Southern high schools began in the 50s.
