Description
This is one of my best-selling items!!!
There is an excellent article about a woman who recently underwent a face transplant after being severely burned with lye. The article is called "Beyond Recognition," found here: http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/4/4381890/carmen-tarleton-the-incredible-story-of-a-face-transplant
When I teach the integumentary system to my anatomy class, I assign the article (it's a little long, just so you're aware) and the following questions that I created.
There is also a video on YouTube that goes with the article. It has a lot of the same information as the article, but there is additional content that is very interesting. I offer extra credit to my students that watch the video and write up a summary. The instructions I give to my students are located at the end of the question set.
This is a wonderful way to tie the integumentary system to real life, and also a way to pull in some moral/ethical issues and spark debate.
If you purchase and download this project, you will get a zipped folder with a pdf of the article, the article questions, and the key.
