PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

When teaching students about why and how to cite sources in research and writing, they often focused on exceptions to ownership of intellectual property. To try to give them more of an understanding of how this works and why it is important, I developed a short lesson on the different concepts relating to intellectual property generally. It is not exhaustive, because it was developed for middle school, but it works to give them the gist. It talks about copyright, public domain, patents, trademarks, industrial and design secrets, and why those relate to using MLA style.
