We know that community is the foundation for learning. This activity bridges our social emotional work with actionable activities that support social studies standards. Allow time for students to focus their thoughts on their intention for the day and learn about how their intentions can turn into actions that help others!
Students begin this activity by going through their mindful movement for the day that is focused on an intention breath. Then they work on their social and emotional skills through brainstorming ways to turn their intentions into actions and seeing a positive effect on others.
You can choose to complete the activity independently, in small groups or as a whole group. Students brainstorm different actions for a list of intentions that they could have in a day. Then they reflect on the intention they chose and actually make a plan to put it into action. The activity ends with a reflection while going through the movements one more time.
