Back to School Interactive Books: Interactive Vocabulary Book with school supply items, bonus directions and preposition page, and yes/no booklet. There are two books included in this packet: School Supply Vocabulary and School Supply Yes/No Questions. These books are perfect for speech language pathologists or to use in small group setting in the early childhood setting.
To assemble your books, print each included page.
Two pages will be your base at the back of the book. Do not cut pages 10 and 11 of this packet – they are your base pages. Cut all of the other pages in half. Hole punch and add on top of the left side of your base pages. Take the extra 12 picture cards on page 9 and use them as your interactive pieces. Laminate everything. Add velcro to all parts of the book.
As you read each page of the book, ask your student to find the correct interactive piece and attach it. Use the classroom scene to target following directions and understanding prepositions. The yes/no booklet is to be used with a dry-erase marker. Read each question and the child circles yes or no.
The interactive books are designed to allow students to match pictures to each page of the book using velcro and dry-erase markers. These books are perfect for early childhood education because they provide fine motor practice while addressing language skills. The books also have a very clear ending. Children can see if they complete each page in the booklet, they are finished with the activity. Many additional goals (verbs, pronouns, functions, attributes, etc.) can be addressed with use of this interactive book.
