As a fourth grade teacher I was always looking for creative ways to have my students interact and “get to know” each other. I feel that it is not only important for me to understand my students beyond their academic abilities, but it is imperative that they discover similarities and differences amongst each other.
My second year teaching I came up with an idea. Why not bring Facebook into the classroom? Not the “real” Facebook of course, but a more appropriate version where students could feel like they are a part of the rest of society. Let’s face it, our kids LOVE technology and all that is to come from it, so I figured giving them an opportunity to be a part of this world would be exciting for them. My students LOVED our classroom Facebook so much that I found ways to use this one sheet of paper multiple ways in the classroom:
1. Beginning of the year activity
2. Interactive Bulletin Board
3. Classroom Yearbook.
