Product Description
A great way for beginning readers to practice reading comprehension and critical thinking skills as they sound out words, find matching pictures, and predict what they make in this interactive cookbook.

Students read the recipe, find the food cards that match the listed ingredients, and attach them to the correct space with Velcro or sticky tack. Then they turn the page to see what they made. Most words used are decodable with simple phonics rules or easily recognized words. This is a fun way to practice reading comprehension and get reluctant or beginning readers excited to read!

Foods and ingredients included:
Mac and Cheese (pasta, butter, cheese, milk)
Hot Dog and Chips (bun, hot dog, dip, chips)
Nachos and Pop (chips, cheese, peppers, pop)
Muffins (flour, eggs, milk, chocolate)
Tacos (shell, meat balls, peppers, cheese)
Corn Dog and Plum (corn, hot dog, eggs, plum)
Pizza (flour, tomato, cheese, peppers)
Popcorn (corn, butter, cheese, salt)
Hamburger (bun, meat balls, tomato, peppers)
Snack Mix (grapes, nuts, chips, chocolate)

*Note: These "recipes" are meant for reading practice, and do not actually tell you how to make the food. :)

Set Up:
1. Choose color or BW and print cover page, food cards, and one of the fridge options single sided. Then print recipe and snack pages double sided. Single sided words too, I just like double sided to save paper and so students can flip the page over to see what they made.

2. Laminate all pages and cut out food cards.

3. Put scratchy-side Velcro in fridge spaces (either in long strips or in individual squares) and in blank recipe spaces. Put soft-side Velcro on the back of food cards. OR, just use sticky tack on the back of food cards. Store food cards in the fridge (…paper fridge that is! :P).

4. Stack all pages in this order: Cover, recipe pages, fridge (with food cards attached). Whole punch and bind with binder rings or tie with string, or bind with a binding machine.
